The bower components needed for building the development setup are now downloaded under Build/bower_components, so no adaption is needed in the bower configuration anymore. This makes the directory "typo3/" to only contain the necessary files to deploy the sources at a development machine, as the required files are copied to typo3/sysext/core/Resources/Public/JavaScript/Contrib and commited. Additionally, a README.txt is put in the Contrib/ directory to notify developers that the files should not be referenced manually. The prototype.js and bootstrap.js libraries are moved to the Contrib/ directory and their references are changed accordingly. In the approach to remove all occurences of dealing with relative URL referencing in the TYPO3 Backend, the main mod.php calls are now always prefixed with "/{possiblesubfolder/}typo3/" so no backPath parameter and calculations are needed anymore. The patch thus removes all locations of the JavaScript variable "top.TS.PATH_typo3" containing the backpath and makes the "relative" path to BackendUtility::getModuleUrl() always a absolute prefix relative to the PATH_typo3 structure. GeneralUtility::split_fileref($fileName) expects the given $fileName to be an existing file as it checks if the given file is a directory or not using is_dir(). The ResourceStorage only provides the name of the file without path when calling it. Checking is_dir() on a file without correct path on systems with open_basedir restrictions triggers the PHP Warning: 'is_dir(): open_basedir restriction in effect'. Replace the calls to split_fileref() with PathUtility::pathinfo() as this function doesn't check/care whether the path is real. Document the behavior of split_fileref(). This task is used to keep the installed npm and Bower components up to date. Just run: "$ grunt update" on the command line. As a first example, RequireJS is now loaded via Bower and will be automatically copied to "typo3/sysext/core/Resources/Public/JavaScript/Contrib/requirejs/" so that it also can be loaded from the PageRenderer.
