travis-ci still chockes on executing the functional tests which take ages, even with various tricks in place. The patch reduces the travis execution to unit tests only since all main tests are executed via our bamboo environment anyway beforehand. Due to the circular dependency with typo3/testing-framework, composer needs to know the version of the root package. For that it tries to identify which branch the current checkout is on. This fails in some situations, so we force the root package version to be dev-master now. The acceptance tests are very hard to stabilize on travis and still flaky. They are disabled for quite a while for that reason already. The setup is now removed from travis to not clutter the core and the config with not needed stuff. In the unlikely case someone works on that again, they could still be added again. Currently travis creates one phpunit process per functional test file and runs them through parallel. As a disadvantage the list of functionals in travis is long and hard to read. The new script finds all test files and weights them depending on the number of tests in it. It then creates a number of configuration files with a roughly even share of tests in each run. In effect, the travis output is now much better readable and this script can be used in bamboo for execution on different agents at the same time, too. The docker environment of travis-ci reports no solid amount of available CPU's, so parallel forks a massive amount of processes in parallel. The patch limits the maximum number of jobs in parallel for travis to 6. This should lead to full CPU usage (there should be 2 hardware available) even if the one or the other process is in i/o wait for mysql or similar, and 6 should still not hammer the VM too much. This has a number of advantages, since the overall memory consumption is lower, the system has to do much less context switches, we're a nicer neighbor, single tests are quicker and the test order is better predictable. The codeception config has a configuration option that points to the folder where the tests are stored. This value does currently not point to the correct folder. To successfully run acceptance tests we need to create a "controlled environment" that is separated from any existing core environment. A standalone instance is created that has its own set of loaded extensions, an own database and an own web path.
